There is practically no end to the opportunities for snow play.

If you like cross-country skiing and snow-shoe-ing you can find groomed trails or go into back country, on closed-down roads, in forests, on lakes and more.

You can put on your skis and start right outside Starlight Lodge or go 6 miles to Hope Valley or to Kirkwood Ski  Resort. Ski equipment can be rented at a very reasonable price at Hope Valley Outdoors 5 minutes from Starlight Lodge.

Kids can sled on hills in Hope Valley.

Downhill skiing and snow-boarding is available at Kirkwood Ski Resort nearby, at Sierra at Tahoe Resort and Heavenly Ski Resort.

The nearby closed down roads through passes are another wonderful was of skiing.

Dog-sledding is available at Kirkwood Ski Resort.

Snow-mobiles can be brought into Hope Valley and other places.
